Trip to Museum - Day 8

Good Morning Princess -

She actually had her first poop yesterday !!! yeah - I was getting a little worried.

Tabitha had a good day. She is very serious and reserved, but she seems to be playing more and more. She is always happier after eating.

She actually let us put her in a highchair for lunch and dinner - I know this does not sound like much, but in fact, it is a big deal - these little girls are carried around alot - and every time we put Tabitha down she cries - so again - this is progress.

Changsha is a big city and there are buses, cars and trucks everywhere, but just to remind us of the rural aspect of China, when Mick was out walking in this city last night - and he saw a guy going down the street with a whip and 3 oxen!



Here is the princess - well actually, she is the wife of a Governer. She was found buried in this area - and everything was perfectly preserved. This is a model of what she looked like.











This is Mickey and Tabitha in front of her burial box. There were three other boxes in side.

She was buried with many of the items used in her day.

Jacquie found the embroidery extremely interesting. Hunan is very famous for its embroidery. In fact we will be touring an embroidery factory on Friday.












After the museum, Jacquie and her friend Tamara ventured on their own to Walmart in a taxi. This cost them 6 Yuan each way. (About 75 cents) . To help get to Walmart, the concierge gave them a card telling the cab driver where to go. What they did not know was that on one side it said take me to Walmart and the other said take me to the hotel.
So when they got in the cab to come home from Walmart, they showed the driver the side that said take me to Walmart. Since they were right in front of Walmart, the driver was very confused. It took some work but they finally found the other side.




Later we took a walk around the block. There are hundreds of small shops and store fronts like this selling just about everything. Changsha is not really a tourist town, so most of these shops are just the ones that the people of Changsha shop at everyday.
While we ware out walking, the sock nazis were very active. (These are the Chinese people who get very upset when any portion of skin is showing on the baby especially the skin between the pants and the sock. So they actually come over and pull up the sock for you). We have been very carful to keep Tabitha covered. But since she is not walking we do not put shoes on her. We actually had someone in the store give us a hard time about her not having shoes.


When we got back to the hotel, we had an impromptu photo by the elevators on our floor. Unfortuntely my camera battery was dying so I only got one shot.
